If we were having coffee, we would be indoors some place with air conditioning. It’s hot here in Portland, unseasonably hot. Not as hot as it is other places but still hot for us. Because we don’t usually have more than five or six consecutive days of high heat each year, many people don’t have AC. I don’t. So I suffer through it. My daughter ordered a window unit for me but my windows open side to side so I would lose my window (or half of it). I thought if something window-like could be put in, like maybe plexi glass, it would be okay. Or maybe it can be put in so that it can be removed when we get through our hot spell? I don’t know enough about it and I’d have to find someone who can do it because, although I do have my daughter’s boyfriend that says he’ll do it, he’s unreliable as to time so it could be another couple of summers before I get to enjoy that window AC. So I think they’ll end up using it for my grandsons’ bedroom when it arrives on Monday (don’t you just love Amazon Prime?).
I suppose you’ve noticed my photo at the top of the post. It’s a selfie that I turned into this photo using an app on my phone (Pho.to Lab Pro). I have the android version on my phone (got it in the Amazon App Store) but there are versions for iOS and for use online. It’s kind of fun to play with. Maybe we can play with it while we chat over coffee?!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’m more than pleased with the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision declaring gay marriage legal. Wow! it is about time. I’m so happy for many of my friends and a few of my relatives that are ecstatic over this decision making their love legal. It makes me smile and I’ve also shed a few tears thinking about the happiness it has brought, although there are more than a few people vocally angry about the decision.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am slowly tackling all the clutter in my house. After years (at least a couple) of not being physically able to lift and carry things, a lot of “stuff” accumulated so now I am tackling one corner at a time and carting it to the Goodwill.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am still struggling to learn a new OS, a new browser (Chrome), and the new laptop! Oy vey!
If you have a few more minutes, I’d like to share my answers to Conny’s Would You Rather Book Tag. Don’t worry, I won’t tag you!
Would you rather only read trilogies or only read stand-alones?
Stand alones
Would you rather only read male or female authors?
Equality in all things, including authors!
Would you rather shop at Barnes and Noble or Amazon?
Amazon.
Would you rather books were made into TV shows or movies?
Neither. I think most books should be kept as books.
Would you rather read only 5 pages per day or 5 books per week?
5 per week.
Would you rather be a professional author or reviewer?
Author.
Would you rather be a librarian or a bookseller?
Bookseller
Would you rather read only your favorite genre, or every other genre but your favourite?
I’d rather read all genres, including my favorite (which varies from time to time)
Would you rather only read ebooks or physical books?
If you want to, consider yourself tagged, if not no problemo!
If we were having coffee, I’d finish up by asking you what you are up to. What has been frustrating this week? Triumphs? Puzzlements? Challenges? Tell me! I want to hear! Oh, and the answer to the question in my post’s title is here.
That’s it for this coffee share…I’m off to grab some iced tea and tackle clothes sorting! Enjoy your week!
The SCOTUS decision made me slightly less embarrassed to be an American. Which is saying something.

Yup. It says a lot. I was pleased to wake up to the news yesterday morning. Surprised but very pleased!

I just want to chime in and say that I have never seen “SCOTUS” before. Love it though!

So happy about the SCOTUS decision!
Hope you get that window unit sooner rather than later and that the new laptop is treating you well. 🙂

I think I am going to have to go to Best Buy and ask them how to not have the Windows 8.1 app screen keep popping up. I have to keep stopping to get back to my regular screen. Aggravating. And I have to figure out how to get Chrome to keep the font size big when I change tabs.

Hope you got it figured out!

Today was not as bad as it was supposed to be. It was only 94 here instead of over 100. It smells like rain out, too. Maybe the weather guys will be wrong and it won’t be as hot?!

This was a very interesting post for me, starting with your photo on top, and then your happiness, and even tears at the decision to recognize all marriages, and finally the answers to the ‘would you rather’ quiz. It seems to me that you might benefit by comparing books to marriage. You and I love reading the words on the page or the screen. But some people are happiest when books are read to them as an audio book. And others can only enjoy the story if it’s turned into a TV program or movie… and why shouldn’t they enjoy?

I hope that you’ll enjoy a cooled environment soon. Here air conditioning is only something of shops, offices and shopping centres, in personal homes it isn’t used much, in the south people tend to have a lot of ventilators too help them cool down.
And well I have often heard that a hot drink is better for you on a hot day than a cold one, because your body won’t have to heat it up to body temperature (ok that would burn calories but cause heat too), so best is a drink at body temperature or above. You know countries like Morocco (which is in the dessert) is known for its consumption of mint tea.
Here it has been hot since Friday, yesterday wasn’t as hot but today a very hot day is unfolding. And looking at the weather predictions for the week to come, well it does look hot…

I ended up drinking a gallon pitcher of sun tea that I made the night before. I used mint and black tea so it was tasty with the mint but also had a bit of caffeine in it to keep me going during the day. I have another pitcher in the refrigerator waiting for me to drink that today! And today might just be the day I break away and head for the theater. I can spend a couple of hours distracting myself from the heat. I haven’t been to a grown up movie in about four years or more. Maybe.

I hope that your heat battling plan worked out fine for you. Did you manage to go to the movies?

I can relate to clutter. I’ve been slowly de-cluttering my apartment for a while now. I find it crazy the amount of junk I seem to have accumulated over the years. There is something so therapeutic about clearing out and making more space, it’s almost like you can breathe a little easier too. Thanks for the coffee 🙂

It is very rewarding to get rid of the clutter. I have about four boxes of clothes to get rid of. I recently had a health emergency which ended up with me having surgery and losing 80 pounds (mostly fluid in a cyst) in the process so I have lots of clothes to take to the Goodwill. It will be nice to have an empty, clean space! Thank you for stopping by.

I enjoyed our coffee. Great photo. I’m so delighted the US made such a landmark ruling. See you next week.

Hey Tric! I kept thinking of you and of Ireland as I read the decision and all the comments and reports and posts on Facebook. It was indeed tear inducing!

The world is made a much smaller place with the internet. We can share so much. I was over the moon when I read the decision, knowing what it means to so many.

I don’t know how you can stand to be in that kind of heat! Indiana gets hot like that usually in July and August, although we have had some fairly warm days it’s been raining almost nonstop for a few weeks, with flooding in low areas. I still like my AC tho. Neat what you did with the picture too. I didn’t get a coffee share done this week…slept off and on Saturday, and worked around the place today. 😉

It was very nice having coffee with you! I feel you on the heat! However…here in FL, we have AC inside. I’m sorry you have to deal with that. I can’t imagine being here in FL without AC. Also, that is awesome that you are tackling all the new technology items! Best of luck with the “de-cluttering.”

I love the selfie – very creative 😀 I try to use those photo programmes but I’m not very good at it and my children tease me mercilessly! I do like picmonkey – the online photo editor. It’s incredibly easy to use. I’ve been having a clear out at home too. I put it off for far too long so I have a huge job ahead of me! 😀
