If we were having coffee, we would be bundling up. It’s 50, according to one of my weather apps but it feels so much colder than 50. The winter weather advisory for Monday/Tuesday has been modified to Sunday, with a chance that it will come in tonight. Ugh!

Tonight my daughter and I are supposed to get the boys out of the house for a few hours so their dad can set up their Christmas present. My ex and his wife sent them a huge TV for their bedroom and their dad is wall mounting it for them and setting up some bean bag chairs for them and then is planning on having hot chocolate and popcorn with a new movie when we arrive back home. He’s doing it tonight because the box is huge and there is no place to keep it hidden until Christmas so they will have an early Christmas gift. Hopefully the weather won’t interfere with that tonight.

Let’s see, what else can I tell you? Yesterday I had 198 views on this blog! It threw me for a loop because I usually get only less than 20, although I’ve been getting closer to 30-35 each day in the past couple of weeks. I came hope last night to check on the laptop. I have a program that gives me the IP address of the people looking at my blog and which post they viewed and how long they were on each post. It turns out that whoever was looking at my stuff was looking at the pictures of Mt. Hood and a few other scenic pictures I have posted in the past couple of weeks. I’m wondering if my pictures will end up on the internet someplace. They, whoever they is, also clicked on my Creative Commons license on my sidebar. Clearly an indication that they want to use my photos.

I’m going to try to write a few new Christmas memoir pieces for this month. I don’t get to do that enough and when I do, it feels really good to get that done! So I’m crossing my fingers that I will get to do that.

I had amazon credit (well, I still do) during Cyber Monday sales and I could not resist buying myself some Kindle books! I got four ebooks, all best sellers, for $15 when they are each normally about $13. So I am hoping to get to start one of them this weekend! By the way, I have recommended it previously but I will do it again. My new favorite Christmas story (well not really new but as about four years ago) that I like to re-read every Christmas is called O Little Town by Don Reid (formerly of the Statler Brothers). It’s a little story about a little town that gives the reader many warm feelings and a great deal to think about. I highly recommend it. I won’t start reading my copy yet. I’ll wait until closer to Christmas.

Well, I have to run and do a couple of errands up the hill. I was going to do them later but if the weather does what they say it will do, then I had better get up there before the road gets icy. Where I’m going it’s about 10 degrees colder than here so I should skedaddle!

Have a super week and I will be coming around to read coffee share posts this weekend. I just have to let my eyes rest a bit between reading posts because my sight is getting worse and worse. But, I will come around.

Have a cup with me?!

If we were having coffee, we could sit and enjoy the sound of the rain and the fresh smell it brings. It has been rather wet and cool here for the last couple of days. I believe we’re in for a wet week. I welcome the cooler, wet weather because we need the rain (yes, even in Oregon), because we were way too hot for Oregon this past spring and summer and because the change in the weather brings about a bit of a slow down in activity. Yay! I need to slow down!

The usual has kept me busy. I love spending time with the boys. Last weekend I went to Seattle to see Mati (Matias which my son has been telling everyone that it rhymes with quesadillas). I hadn’t seen him since he was almost one month. He’s now four months. He’s the cutest little thing. He’s very social and he loves to gab!

Unfortunately, the day after I got back, I woke up with a sore throat, chills and sneezing. That kept me on the slow side for the day. That night and the next day, all I could do was sleep. I had to email the people at the charter school where I teach a writing enrichment class on Tuesday mornings so they would not expect me. I felt really bad about it but I didn’t want to sneeze all over them or put myself in a position to prolong my cold.

Over the week I kind of kept working on my Tarot reading idea. I’ve done about twenty free readings for people that took me up on my offer on Facebook. It seems to be a popular idea. So I have started a private Facebook group for posting about Tarot. I’ll post about the cards, different decks, card spreads, how to formulate a question for a reading and pictures. I will also be offering Tarot readings there. I need to earn some money and if I can do thirty readings in a month, that is almost enough for rent. So now I need to get some clients! Let me know if you want to join the FB group. Members are under no obligation to request a pay reading. If you want to see what it’s about, you can request to join the group. It’s called Let’s Talk Tarot. It’s not quite ready but I should have some content up by tomorrow.  I’ve also started an Instagram account for Tarot.

OH! Watch the blog this week for a post about using Tarot for character and plot development in writing fiction. I’ll have that up in a few days.

I’m a bit introspective right now. I’m missing family. I have all of my three children and three grandchildren near me but I miss my mom and my sisters. With finances being what they are, I don’t think I will be able to go see them in California any time soon. The last time I spent time with two of my sisters and my mom was in June of 2015 for my dad’s memorial service. The other sister hasn’t spoken to me since my son’s wedding in August of 2013. I miss all of them. Why can’t we get along? There is always one that isn’t talking to one of the others. I’m usually the one that stays in everyone’s good graces so not having my youngest sister talk to me has been really tough. We have to stay together…it’s just us left. On that note, I did find a place online to add a pink ribbon to my profile pictures for October. I already had one picture from a previous year with a pink ribbon so I used that for Facebook but then created a different one online for my Twitter account. You can do it here.

I hope to write some posts this week. I some ideas for a few memoir pieces and several for posts about the grands. We’ll see what happens.

I allowed myself the luxury of reading time yesterday so that I could finish a novel I had been slowly reading all month. I think it was one of the September free First Reads on Amazon. It was excellent. Last night I allowed myself to spend a half hour reading a new novel before turning out the light. Yay!  What have you read lately? I also have streamed The American President and I’m working my way through the last one and a half seasons of The Gilmore Girls so I can be ready for the revival show which will be on Netflix on Black Friday. I would rather spend my time watching that than going out to shop that day!

YOU! Yes, you! What are you up to? Please tell me what is going on in your world!

If we were having coffee, we would definitely be inside. It has been very wet for the last couple of days. Not cold. Just very wet. We could sit at the table in the dining room and enjoy a chat while we watch the rain. And listen to it. I love the sound of the rain.

I would also tell you about Anderson. You may have read in my Tough Days post a few days ago, about him knocking his teeth out at the park and the aftermath. On Thursday he was very ill. That’s what happens when you don’t eat or drink anything for several days! Finally, on Friday, we reminded him about how his mom had to go to the hospital a few weeks ago because she couldn’t hold anything down and got sick. They had to hook her up to an IV to re-hydrate her. That convinced him to try to eat. He ate a mashed up banana and had a cup of apple juice. Later in the day, he wanted McDonald’s chicken nuggets so we took him but we had to cut everything up into tiny pieces…tiny fries…tiny chicken nuggets. He’s afraid to bite but he’ll chew. So he’s much better now but not quite back to himself just yet.

Spencer started preschool on Tuesday. It was the first day and only half the class went that day with the other half going on Wednesday. The whole class was supposed to be there on Thursday but we couldn’t take him because there was a downed power line across the entrance to the mobile home park so they were not letting anyone in or out of the driveway. So he missed school. The preschool is a Monday through Thursday program so his second day will be tomorrow. He liked it so I don’t think we’ll have a problem getting him to go.

I got this neat idea yesterday! I got on Facebook and offered my friends a free Tarot reading so I can get some practice. I’ve read the Tarot for over thirty years but am out of practice so I figured I would offer free readings for the next couple of weeks so I can practice. Then after that, I can start charging for them. That should help with a little bit of money coming in. I’m excited about it. I love the Tarot so this will be fun and, hopefully, a bit profitable. I have kept up with the rent but I haven’t had grocery money since July so I have been relying on what my daughter sends my way…mostly fruits and vegetables.  It would be nice to be able to afford a few groceries…like maybe something with protein in it. If any of you want a free reading and you’re one of my regular readers, let me know in the comments or sidebar comment box. I’m doing them for free for just a couple of weeks before I start charging.

I watched The Princess Bride the other night because I want to participate in the linkup next weekend. I will watch it again at least once more before I write a blog post about it.  I am also binge watching Gilmore Girls because I want to get through all seven seasons before the revival movies come on Netflix on November 25th. I’m on season 3 right now. While watching the shows, I keep getting flooded with memories of my own about some of the events on the show. I think I am going to start writing them up for blog posts or maybe a collection of memoir pieces inspired by watching the show. We’ll see if anything comes of it.

My biggest disappointment this weekend is that I had to postpone my trip to see my grandson in Seattle. I have something going on with my stomach and Anderson was vomiting and Tina wasn’t feeling well so I didn’t want to take the chance that I might be contagious and expose the baby or my son and daughter in law to any kind of bug I might have so I didn’t go. I’m waiting to hear from my son about rescheduling a visit. Crossing my fingers it is soon!

So what about YOU?  Reading? Watching? Writing? Weather?  Please do tell!

Do you plan things out or do you fly by the seat of your pants?

That’s the question that has been going around some blog circles that I am in. Last month I participated in 1000 Voices Speak For Compassion (#1000Speak). It was a9th huge group of bloggers planning to publish a blog post on some aspect of compassion all on the same day, February 20. I would say that the majority of the bloggers planned out their post and began writing it way in advance, some of them finishing weeks before the posting date. Not me. About a week before the date, I decided on what I was going to write and I found myself writing it the night before. In fact, I finished it about 35 minutes before midnight on the 19th so I waited for midnight and posted in right away. This month there is another challenge going on. It won’t happen until April but people are preparing for it now. In fact, I’ve read some bloggers who say that they started planning for this year’s April event last October! Wow! That’s some dedication. The event is the Blogging From A to Z Challenge. If you take a look at my sidebar, you’ll see the badge for it. The challenge is more of a challenge than the #1000Speak event. Those that accept the challenge attempt to post every day in April (except Sundays). But that’s not all. The real part of the challenge is that you have to post a topic that begins with the letter of the day, hence the A to Z, as there are 26 letters in the alphabet and 26 blogging days in April when you leave out the Sundays. That’s a challenge. What some bloggers do to make it even more difficult is that they decide on a theme for their April A to Z posts. So let’s say someone decides on a travel theme: they would have to post something related to travel beginning with the letter A on April 1, B on April 2, C on April 3, etc. Now that’s a lot more challenging and I can understand that people need to plan and prepare but since last October?! That part I don’t get.

Me? I’m a pantser. If I have something due at noon on Friday, you can pretty much bet that I will be finishing it up around 10 that morning. For the April A to Z challenge, I have my theme which I’m not yet sharing and I have a list of A to Z with all the topics filled in, save the letter X. Some days I have five or six things penciled in because I don’t really know what I will feel like writing but at least I have some ideas. The X eludes me at the moment, though. I suppose I can resort to something that begins with (E)x but I am trying not to. However, as far as the actual posts, I’m not planning on writing them until a day or two before I need to post them. I’m just not a planner. In anything, really. In fact, when I sit down to write my blog posts, I’m not sure where they’re going to go. Like yesterday’s post on Journalism…that started out to be something entirely different. It was going to be a list of questions about me that I would answer. I typed in a title of 5 W’s and then journalism popped into my head and off I went. It worked well. And I still have that list of questions about myself that I’m supposed to answer that I will save for a future post.

How about you? Are you a planner or a pantser? Or somewhere in between?
