Auld Lang Syne

Auld lang syne or days gone by…that’s what everyone is talking about this week as we say goodbye to 2012 and hello to 2013.

How do you sum up the year?  It’s pretty impossible, at least in my experience, to say the entire year was a great one or a horrible one or even just a wash.  Each day brought new occurrences and new experiences to us all so we can’t really lump them all together.

What will you keep doing in 2013 that you began in 2012?  What will you definitely not repeat in 2013 that you did in 2012?  Perhaps that’s the way to gauge our year.  It might give us a better indication of what was good and what was not so good.

One thing I began this year was a book mark challenge in which one keeps track of all the books (over 100 pages in length) that we read.  That was fun.  In 2012, I read 67 books, at least.  I think there were a few others but I didn’t write them down when I finished them so I forgot!  But 67 is a good number.  That’s more than one a week over the year.  I didn’t read any books at all during November as I was deep into Nanowrimo.  In December I began streaming a few series that I had never watched before so I did very little reading in December.  I think for 2013, I will strive to read at least another 67 books during the year, but I sure would like to beat my own record!  I might shoot for 75 which is not all that out of the question, afterall, several of the books I read in early 2012 were so long that they took the place of two or three shorter novels.  So there is room to up that 67.  We shall see.

There are a lot of other things for me to examine as we enter 2013 but there is time.  I’m not rushing into it with unreasonable goals.  There is time.

What will you keep doing?  What will you avoid doing?

I wish you all a very healthy and prosperous 2013!
