It was a long time after I got my cell phone before I started texting, years and years. Finally, in 2010, I have inin and got a Smart phonephone. It allowed me to do so much more with my phone, and from so many more places. And that’s when I started texting. I text a lot with my oldest daughter, hundreds of texts between the two of us each month. I text with other people occasionally but I’m more reluctant to do so. Why?
Well, I keep imagining the unsuspecting text recipient. Where are they? What are they doing? Who are they with? Are they in the bathroom? At work? In the middle of a meal? Are they with their boss? With their spouse? With their children?
There are some people with whom I can text easily but then there are others did whom my texts might be troublesome. I don’t want to cause anyone any problem.
How about you? Do you just go ahead and text regardless of what the recipient might be in the middle of? Would you rather text than call or email?
Well, I’m posting from my phone so hopefully not too many errors and I can’t add pics and tags so I’ll have to come back when the car isn’t moving.
I’m not huge on texting and often think the same things. Shows that I’m not a millennial…

Text all the time, mostly. As I get older though, I think a lot more about how they might be bothersome.

I text all the time–if it’s inconvenient, I figure the person won’t look at the text, or they’ll have their phone set to silent so they won’t pick it up until it’s a good time. Most smartphone users have specific text tones set for friends and family, so when a text comes in, they know who it is, which makes it easier to decide whether to check immediately or wait. If I have something lengthy to say, I usually email, but I never, ever call…that’s far more disruptive, IMO, than a text.

Sometimes I think that too. If it is an inconvenient time for texts, they need to shut off the notifications or turn them lower or on vibrate. It really should be the recipient’s responsibility.

Totally, just like they can either answer the phone, or not, if it rings.
