We have been hearing reports of a couple of approaching storms which have the potential to be “killer storms.” The rain was not supposed to start until the commute time this evening, however, when I woke up at 7 it was already pouring rain! So I guess it has begun.
The storm, they say, will have sustained winds of 50 mph. Sustained winds, not gusts. The gusts will be much greater. They say the rain will be very heavy and are recommending sandbags for the low lying areas and the areas around rivers. The Clackamas River is right behind the mobile home park where I live. When it flooded in 2009, we were fine even when the river crested 6 feet above the flood line. I think we’ll be fine. And the houses are up on a foundation which is about four feet off the ground so I think we’ll be fine as far as flooding goes. We’ll see about the winds because we are surrounded with tall trees which could go down. And power could go.
I think we’ll be fine but if you don’t hear from me, I am probably without power. I think we’ll be fine. I think we’ll be fine. I think we’ll be fine. I think we’ll be…
Stay safe 🙂

Stay safe. I hope it turns out to be not as bad as predicted. That’s been the case with our storms this year.

That’s what I’m hoping, too! My daughter tried to order a portable generator from Amazon but they’re sold out did another week, probably because of Matthew!

I’ll keep you in my thoughts and prayers! If they tell you to leave… Leave! Don’t try to be brave and stick it out like some people do. I dread the winter months here for the winds and such. Rain replaced by snow. Take care of yourself and those grand sons!

So far it’s ok. The winds are picking up this morning. Heavy rains and strong winds should start in the overnight hours.
