Have a cup with me?!
If we were having coffee, we could sit and enjoy the sound of the rain and the fresh smell it brings. It has been rather wet and cool here for the last couple of days. I believe we’re in for a wet week. I welcome the cooler, wet weather because we need the rain (yes, even in Oregon), because we were way too hot for Oregon this past spring and summer and because the change in the weather brings about a bit of a slow down in activity. Yay! I need to slow down!
The usual has kept me busy. I love spending time with the boys. Last weekend I went to Seattle to see Mati (Matias which my son has been telling everyone that it rhymes with quesadillas). I hadn’t seen him since he was almost one month. He’s now four months. He’s the cutest little thing. He’s very social and he loves to gab!
Unfortunately, the day after I got back, I woke up with a sore throat, chills and sneezing. That kept me on the slow side for the day. That night and the next day, all I could do was sleep. I had to email the people at the charter school where I teach a writing enrichment class on Tuesday mornings so they would not expect me. I felt really bad about it but I didn’t want to sneeze all over them or put myself in a position to prolong my cold.
Over the week I kind of kept working on my Tarot reading idea. I’ve done about twenty free readings for people that took me up on my offer on Facebook. It seems to be a popular idea. So I have started a private Facebook group for posting about Tarot. I’ll post about the cards, different decks, card spreads, how to formulate a question for a reading and pictures. I will also be offering Tarot readings there. I need to earn some money and if I can do thirty readings in a month, that is almost enough for rent. So now I need to get some clients! Let me know if you want to join the FB group. Members are under no obligation to request a pay reading. If you want to see what it’s about, you can request to join the group. It’s called Let’s Talk Tarot. It’s not quite ready but I should have some content up by tomorrow. I’ve also started an Instagram account for Tarot.
OH! Watch the blog this week for a post about using Tarot for character and plot development in writing fiction. I’ll have that up in a few days.
I’m a bit introspective right now. I’m missing family. I have all of my three children and three grandchildren near me but I miss my mom and my sisters. With finances being what they are, I don’t think I will be able to go see them in California any time soon. The last time I spent time with two of my sisters and my mom was in June of 2015 for my dad’s memorial service. The other sister hasn’t spoken to me since my son’s wedding in August of 2013. I miss all of them. Why can’t we get along? There is always one that isn’t talking to one of the others. I’m usually the one that stays in everyone’s good graces so not having my youngest sister talk to me has been really tough. We have to stay together…it’s just us left. On that note, I did find a place online to add a pink ribbon to my profile pictures for October. I already had one picture from a previous year with a pink ribbon so I used that for Facebook but then created a different one online for my Twitter account. You can do it here.
I hope to write some posts this week. I some ideas for a few memoir pieces and several for posts about the grands. We’ll see what happens.
I allowed myself the luxury of reading time yesterday so that I could finish a novel I had been slowly reading all month. I think it was one of the September free First Reads on Amazon. It was excellent. Last night I allowed myself to spend a half hour reading a new novel before turning out the light. Yay! What have you read lately? I also have streamed The American President and I’m working my way through the last one and a half seasons of The Gilmore Girls so I can be ready for the revival show which will be on Netflix on Black Friday. I would rather spend my time watching that than going out to shop that day!
YOU! Yes, you! What are you up to? Please tell me what is going on in your world!

I’ve found Damages on Netflix and am hooked. Hope you are feeling better. Delighted about your Tarot readings. Best of luck with that, a very novel idea.

I watched Damages a few times when visiting my sister. I did enjoy it. I’ll have to find it and give it another go.

Hope you are feeling better in the upcoming week. Sometimes it is just not so easy to get along with family-we are 3 sisters in my family and none of us speak to each other. Sad, but life is far less complicated for me this way. I wish we shared that unbreakable bond I know some sisters have, but we just don’t.

Without saying too much, I’ve always been the one to be in touch with everyone in the family. However, three years ago, one of my sisters took offense at something I said. Not because of what I said or how I said it but because of something she was going through unbeknownst to everyone else. So she never spoke to me again. Since then, she was in an argument with sister number three and later with the fourth sister. Now she speaks to no one in the family. We don’t even know how to reach her in case of an emergency. So I think the problem was with that sister, not the rest of us. It really bugs me. I did take one little step toward reaching out to her again, this time through a mutual friend. We’ll see if anything comes of it.

I really have to give in and sign up for Netflix. I’m missing so many cool shows!
Sorry you’ve not been feeling well. So many people at work are snuffling. I suspect it is the change in seasons.

Sorry your trip to Seattle ended with you getting a cold. I am glad your ideas are keeping you busy. I know nothing about tarotcards that has not been an interested. Have a pleasant week.

Thank you. I think a lot of the getting sick had to do with the little ones spreading germs. I have to remember to take my vitamins!

You are ALWAYS super busy! You wear me out just reading about all you’ve been up to.
I hope you got over your cold. I have the remnants of one I’ve had for four weeks. No fun! But I had to go to work and suck it up.. Which took me longer to get over.

It was a record fast cold! Super sick one day. Slept all the next day. Then it was gone! I still have the tiniest bit of congestion but I’m counting on my vitamins to keep me well.

I’m so glad that you have your children and grandchildren close. I’m sure that helps in those times when you’re missing the rest of your family.

It is cool to put the Tarot on instagram..good idea. Did you see that Amazon is now lending 5 books all the time ( including some magazines) beyond the old lending library. I am excited about that. I rarely am into the monthly free books, but now you have a big choice. (Prime membership required, but no other)

I haven’t been able to get info on prime reads. Glad it’s five. I thought only one!
