If we were having coffee today, I would be so happy to see you! I’ve been a little off this week…off of blogging and a bit off healthwise. Nothing horrible. Just residual blah from being sick. I hope that’s all it is. Anyway, come on in and make yourself comfy. I have turned up the thermostat a bit so it will warm up in a few minutes.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that this week wasn’t very active. I have been home most of the time except to run a couple of errands with my daughter and to watch the boys for her a couple of times. Most days this week have been non-stop rain here. It stopped raining for a little bit on Friday but then started up again so heavily that I couldn’t sleep, listening to all that rain. And if my Weather Bug app is right, we have about another three hours rain-free today then it will begin again! I have a couple of errands to go on this afternoon so I’m hoping it will not start raining for awhile.
I finished reading All the Light We Can Not See by Anthony Doer. It’s a pretty wonderful book. I won’t say too much about it for a bit as I’m in a group that is reading it together and I think I’m only the second to finish so I don’t want to give anything away. But it is excellent, if you’re looking for a long read (532 pps.). Now I am working on finishing Searching For Malumba. I’ve been reading it for awhile but have been only reading a few pages at a time. Now I will try to get it finished.
Awww! The sun just came out as I am typing this. I’m going to rush and try to go out in it for a few minutes before we lose it!
Anyway, the big news here is that Spencer finally got to go to his appointment to be evaluated for his delayed speech, a couple of days ago. His speech is really low on the charts, I think my daughter said he was in the 2 percentile. He definitely qualifies for services from the school district for early intervention and will be starting that probably within the month. The funny thing is that now, two days after his evaluation, he is speaking a lot more and we are understanding so much more. Not sentences…just a word or two at a time…and he keeps pointing to things and telling us what they are. Apparently, during the evaluation, they would point to things and have him name them so now he thinks he’s playing a game constantly and is identifying everything in sight! But he’s still very much behind what an almost three year old should be saying.
Not much else going on. I’m in the middle of making plans for a baby shower I am hosting for my daughter-in-law in March. I haven’t been to a baby shower in ages so it has been fun going through web pages to find ideas and some free downloads that I can have printed for the decorations which will be woodland animals. Cute foxes, raccoons, owls, stuff like that.
What about you? I’m fixing a cup of coffee (I was so caught up in talking that I haven’t had a cup yet) to drink while you tell me what you’ve been up to. Did you go any place this week? Enjoy a favorite hobby? Read a wonderful book? Watch a good movie? Fill me in on your week and your plans for the upcoming week! I’ll sip coffee, you talk!
