I first heard this song, or at least the first remembrance of it, when I was in about 5th grade (1967) and I was home from school. My mom was watching Dialing For Dollars (movie with a host for the breaks) so I watched with her. It was an old, old movie called Waterloo. The song stuck in my mind and has been a favorite since…and it really doesn’t matter who sings it. I love the bagpipes, as it is a Scottish song.
You are so young, dear Corina… May you have many years of wonder ahead of you,

Every year we sing this song at midnight and it brings tears. I know I should look forward, but when I hear it I always miss those who are no longer in my life. Thankfully I get over it very quickly and the celebrations can continue.
Happy New Year to you and all you family.
