This post is part of Part Time Monster’s weekly blog hop, #WeekendCoffeeShare. Come join us!
Well, I just spent an hour writing my coffee share post and inserting links and pictures. Now it’s gone! That’s the first time that has happened to me. I usually can recover a post by looking at my drafts in WordPress. This time, the page just closed and there is no sign of it in my drafts. I have looked and looked. No sign. Sigh. I don’t have time to go through and recreate the whole thing so you get a nutshell, instead.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that the new kitty cat kept me from posting yesterday. She was getting acclimated and spent the morning on top of me then after hiding behind the toilet for a few hours, I went and grabbed her for some more lap time so she can get used to me. We watched four movies with her on my lap! I’m also thinking of a new name for her. The top two are Lucy and Frida, although I am leaning more toward Frida. What do you think?
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I took both Anderson and Spencer for a walk to the Leach Botanical Garden last Sunday. They loved it. Anderson had been there a couple of time but not since I took him last October as part of a “Walktober” post for Breezes At Dawn. It was Spencer’s first time because up til now, he has been too rambunctious to take any place like that. He loves running and touching. This is a walking place and no touching, for the most part.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that on Tuesday we took the boys to Oregon Museum of Science and Industry or OMSI. We hadn’t been there since before Spencer was born. In fact, since before Anderson was walking! They have a great Kids’ Discovery Room with a places for them to play with Legos, water, sand, levers and pulleys, arts and crafts, etc. We had to tear them away to discover other areas. Anderson and I also went out back and watched the river and people on their bike commute through the corridor that runs behind the museum. And we left when Spencer swallowed a rock from the gift shops bin of highly polished rocks that you can fill a pouch with and buy! Yup, time to leave!
On Friday I took Anderson to meet some mom’s and their boys as part of a MeetUp group. It was our first time meeting that group. We went to the Mt.Talbert Nature Park where Anderson and I hiked in early July. It was a fun hike. We made it all the way to the top of the mountain this time! Well, it’s more of a hill.
I am beginning to have withdrawals thinking about Anderson starting kindergarten. I won’t have as much time with him. It makes me sad. He’s almost always with me. Now I won’t get to see him very much. Although it is coming right at a time when Spencer is getting to an age where he is easier for me to take places and to have here at my house. He’s not a substitute for Anderson but it will be nice to have some more Spencer one on one time.
I read a book that was highly rated this week and thought it was kind of a let down. It is the author’s first novel and I think he hasn’t really eased into his own style yet. He was all over the place. I could see places where he was clearly trying to mimic Michael Connelly and places where he was like James Patterson’s characters. He doesn’t have his own voice yet and the novel suffered for it. The only consolation is that I got it free as part of the Kindle First Reads program where Amazon Prime members can select to read a book for free a month before its release date. I’m glad I finished it quickly because now I can move on to something else, also recommended highly. It’s called The Last Will of Moira Leahy.
What about you? What are you up to? What are you reading? Any trips? Any out of town company? What’s on your agenda? Talk to me!
I like Frida, but I’m not sure if she has the eyebrows to live up to the name 😉 She is pretty though, like the artist, so eyebrows or no, that’s my vote.

I like Frida. She looks like a Frida to me. 🙂
The Last Will of Moira Leahy sounds pretty good. I’ve added it to my reading list (which stretches on past forever). I’ve just finished “Finders Keepers” by Stephen King, and have started The Samurai’s Garden which is lovely so far. There is a peacefulness to the writing.
Thank you for the mention and the link. It was a good reminder, too, that I’ll need to start posting about that soon so folks can plan for it. Not that it requires much planning unless you’re like me and want to try to do something special for the walk. That doesn’t always work out, but I do try.

Robin, The Last Will book is free in the kindle store today. I have a source that says it won’t be free much longer so you might want to grab it now!

I don’t have a kindle (or any kind of e-reader). I still prefer to hold a real book although I have considered some kind of e-reader for traveling. 🙂

E-readers are great for travel. You can load them up with a bookshelf of books and never run out! No more last minute trips into airport shops for a book! And much easier to store books on.

I like Frida (which was the name of my mouse when I was little).

Wow a busy week for you. I’m with Frida too. Painful losing your post. It very hard to write it again.

I’m going to buck the trend and vote for Lucy.

I love Lucille Ball and as a child I used to say my name was Lucy. Having a kitty named Lucy would be nice but I am thinking this one is a Frida. You know how you just get a feeling? Yeah.

Pretty new kitty! Unfortunately, Little Jedi and I are both allergic, so we won’t be moving any kitties in. I think she looks like a Frida.

Too bad you’re allergic. If you weren’t at least you would have a choice of getting one or not. I am thinking Frida too but I keep typing Friday and having to correct it.

Yeah, I’ve had cats before that were outdoor cats, but they don’t do as well in cities, so no kitties for me.

I think she looks like a Frieda. She looks like one sophisticated kitty.
I don’t know whether you were using the “Beep Beep Boop” or the old editor for WordPress but I find the new one to be finicky and don’t like it at all – the old editor which you can still access and use from your admin page automatically saves your posts every few seconds so the liklihood of losing one is less (I think.) It might be worth giving a try.

I like Frida… also like the look of your cat. But I suspect she might have something to do with the missing blog. Cats do get jealous at times…
