If we were having coffee, I would follow up on yesterday’s teaser about lunch. I had a great time meeting fellow blogger, Sabina from Victim To Charm. We met at Rogue Distillery in The Pearl here in Portland. I texted her with where I was sitting and what I was wearing and she found me straight out! I would have recognized her if I had run into her in the street because she looks like her pictures! Speaking of pictures, we forgot to take one! Next time! I truly enjoyed meeting Sabina for the first time and hope there will be a next time.
We had a yummy lunch and talked about how her summer is going and how things change in a matter of a week or two. We talked about next year and whether she will come home to Portland or stay in New York. It’s a big decision. She has some time to make it, though. And I discovered that her mom and I are the same age and went to the same university so small world that it is, we might know each other! Wouldn’t that be a hoot?!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that it’s now after 1 PM but I have been up since 6 and had my first cup of coffee then. At 7:30 I got an email from my daughter saying that Anderson had been up since 6:50, watching TV and playing on the iPad. No one else was ready to get up (my daughter worked until midnight last night and didn’t get home til 1 this morning and has to go back to work by 2 this afternoon). She asked if I wanted to get him if I were awake so I got dressed and picked him up. We headed for the Rose Garden (officially the International Rose Test Garden) up in Washington Park, about a 40 minute drive from us. Getting there at 8:15 was super. No crowds. Not too hot yet. And we didn’t have to pay to park until 9:30! Anderson loved going around smelling the flowers and kept saying “Mommy will love this one!” He loved leading me around the park and playing near the water sculpture, walking under it back and forth.
By 9:15 the intense heat of the sun was starting to get to me. It wasn’t that hot yet, maybe 85 but because of the direct sunlight over us and the altitude of the gardens, it felt like 100! The tour buses were beginning to arrive and 9:30 Pay to Park deadline looming so we got out of there and meandered through downtown Portland, Hawthorne district, then on toward home. We stopped for breakfast at Elmer’s. It was Anderson’s first time there and I hadn’t been there in about four or five years so it was a nice change from Denny’s! We came back and waited for everyone to get up at his house before taking him home so he can see his Mommy for a little while before she has to go to work.
I feel like I had a whole day’s activity and it is still so early! Time to get going. I really want to finish Go Set A Watchman. I am at 93% so I’m close! I’m thinking if I finish in time, I might take myself to see Inside Out and cool off in the theater. Have to be there for the last show before 5 so I can get in for $5! See how
cheap frugal I am?!
Have a super week. Read a good book. Go see a movie! Go to a museum. Go for a walk if it’s not too hot where you’re at! See you next week!
