If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I really want to go back to bed. The pillow and blankets are calling me and it’s really tough not to listen to them today. I’ll put it off for a while though. I want to get a little caught up with blogging. I need to read a lot of blogs that I didn’t have time to visit during the latter part of the week. But I look forward to a nap in a couple of hours.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that today is my 120th day of a streak of writing at least one post for this blog! That’s the longest I’ve ever gone. I’ve done 60 days but this is twice that many! Yay me! It’s funny because I started out in October to try to revive the blog as I had not posted in over a year and a half. That month I managed to post 9 times. I had wanted to post at least 20 times. So then for November I signed up for NaBloPoMo (National Blog Posting Month) and blogged every day then did it again in December. January rolled around and I kept on blogging and before I knew it, it was February. At the beginning of the month I told myself it was okay to miss a day as the blogging habit had been established and it would be easy to miss a day and jump back in. However, on the two or three days that I almost didn’t post because of lack of energy, illness, or busy-ness, it drove me crazy and I ended up posting anyway. So I guess the blogging habit has really taken hold! Let’s see if I can make it through March!
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my grandson turns 5 next Saturday so this week will be spent helping my daughter with all of the stuff that has to get done for the party…Lego party. Anderson is already asking if his birthday is “tomorrow”. So I think later today we will make him a countdown so he knows. He loved advent calendars this year so I may make him a mini one for his birthday. We’ll see what I can come up with.
I would also tell you that Monday is Read Across America Day and also Dr. Seuss’ birthday. When I was teaching, I planned an entire day of reading for my class. We did nothing but read. We covered all the academic subjects but through reading. I also invited adults to come read to the kids. We had a couple of parents join us and we had the Principal and two of the Teacher Specialists as well. The kids loved it. I miss those days and I’m thinking that next year, when Anderson is in Kindergarten, I will see if I can help the school plan some events and readings for the day.
And speaking of kindergarten, we just found out that this school district is changing to a six hour kindergarten in September! So instead of being in school for just a half day, Anderson will be gone for the whole day and the bus will pick him up and drop him off…no having to drive him over and back. Times they are a changin’.
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I am participating in the A to Z Blog Challenge this year for the first time. I have a theme and have managed to list each post. However, I still need a post for the letters U and X. I’ll think of something. I’ll let you know the theme in a couple of weeks. I think it will be a fun one. There’s another blog event I want to participate in but I’m afraid it might be biting off more than I can chew so I’m not sure yet. It’s the Great Villain Blogathon. I have my villain picked out but I haven’t committed to it yet. We’ll see how I feel about it in a day or two. This Monday I will also be posting my second monthly “Introducing” post in which I introduce my readers to an indie writer. So I hope you stop by and take a look at that post.
So how has your week gone? What is on the schedule for you in the coming week? In March? Are you a planner that has it all scheduled out way in advance or a “pantser” that flies by the seat of their pants, often typing the last word two seconds before the last minute? I’m kind of like the second one but I’m finding that I am changing a bit and planning things out more. Old age does strange things to us! ๐
Thank you for stopping by. I’ll come around to visit all the blogs on the linky over the weekend. And I’m not sure if coffee will be Saturday or Sunday next week because of the big birthday party but it will happen, one day or the other. See you then!
If We Were Having Coffee is a weekly blog share and link up hosted by Part-Time Monster. You can join in the fun too! Just write your post and link it up at part time monster.
Congratulations on your daily writing habit! I’ve been writing everyday since November as well ๐ I’m new to the whole blogging thing so every day is full of surprises ๐

Rhodia,
If you’re new, you should consider the A-to-Z Challenge too. It will give you a goal, and people to read and comment on your writing.

Yeah I’m participating in the A to Z Challenge–I’ve already signed up on Linky. I just have to figure out what my theme is going to be. I have a feeling that will be a bit more challenging then simply signing up lol

Awesome! The theme reveal day is coming up, so you need to decide. Pick something that you are passionate about or are an expert at. Find or print a calendar and write your topic for each letter on the correct day. Then start writing your posts and scheduling them to go live on the correct day. Some people already have most of theirs written. I have mine decided, but no posts written yet.
What else can we help you with?

Are there any blogs I could visit to gather some ideas? I am passionate about books, writing, music and puzzles of all kinds. .

I’m a pantser. I won’t write posts ahead of time. I just know I won’t. I already have my theme and list of posts for each day, except U and X but I will figure it out. I’m not sure I want to participate in the reveal day in March.

Hi, Corina! I haven’t got to big in a few days. I’ve been out of town at a conference and fighting a migraine. I’ll get my weekend coffee share post up as soon as we get home.
I’m doing A-to-Z this year, plus serving as a minion for the challenge. I’m looking forward to it! What’s your number on the list?

I’m a minion too! I figure I will be reading as many posts as I can so why not help out? I’m looking forward to it.

Six-hour kindergarten?! That seems really brutal for five-year-olds, but…yikes. I guess there must be some reason for it.

His district is starting this year, as is Hillsboro. Next year, 2016, apparently all Oregon schools will switch to 6 hour kindergarten. That will be a very rude awakening to any kids that were not in pre school or some kind of day care!

With all you have going on And to do think I too would be in need of rest too. ๐ I’m an Australian teacher and our kindergarten day is the same length as the whole school but usually has a half hour early optional finish in Term 1. It is a looong day for them ( and the teacher haha) .oh and btw what is the A-Z challenge? I haven’t written regularly I n ages on my blog. I miss writing but like all hobbies I feel I need a guide to get restarted

If you click on the A to Z link in this post, it will take you to the What Is A to Z Blogging Challenge. Basically, it runs in April and you post for 26 days, one post for each letter of the alphabet. Sundays are a day off. You do the alphabet posts in order. You can either blog about anything or pick a theme. For example, your A post might be about ants, animals, apples, appetizers, etc, or something beginning with A. Or if you have a theme of maybe food, your posts would relate to your theme with each one beginning with the letter of the day, A to Z. Does that make sense? There is a link up page, or will be in April. You link your blog there and lots and lots of people will visit your blog and like and comment. Then you go around and read some of the posts as well. Good way to discover new blogs and make some new friends. Also a good way to get back into blogging if you want to do that. Check out the link in my post (A to Z link) for more info.

Hi Corinna, You have had a busy week ahead of you. Tomorrow is our five your old grands party. Its a Frozen theme. I wish they were doing a six hour kinder here. They need the work in some schools. I am also doing the A to Z. I.m worried about it though. I have lost my place a bit. Maybe next week will help. Have fun at the party!

Congrats on your blogging streak. I always love ‘Read Across America’ day. There would be green eggs and ham in the cafeteria, all of us would read a Dr. Seuss book. I’d do a storytelling of Bartholomew and the Oobleck and then we’d make and observe oobleck. We’d all dress up like Cat in the Hat. The little ones (Pre-K and K) would dress up too. So fun!

Wow, that’s a full plate you got going there. Have fun with the lego party, sounds like fun.
I need to have a look into the villan blogathon but not before I don a party hat for Dr. Suess!
As for planning ahead, I sure try but the job I have is unpredictable at best and one needs to be a good “pantser” to keep it all together.
Thanks for the coffee!

wow you are busy! Good for you blogging so much- I know it is not always easy. And no more driving- so what was it you wanted to do but said you couldn’t because you were tied to driving? I know we wrote about it a few weeks ago. I look forward to reading your A to Z!

Hoping you have a great reading day tomorrow.
Sorry I didn’t get a coffee post up yesterday but it was lovely to stop by here. It sounds like you need the time to sit down and relax sometimes ๐

If we were having coffee, I’d invite you to stick around for the catfish dinner I’ll be cooking in a little bit. And I’d tell you that I usually prefer to do the by the seat of my pants thing. But, since I’m a minion/trooper this year, I’m about to start writing most if not all of my A to Z Posts in advance.

Read Across America Day is amazing fun. I’m so glad you mentioned it. Nothing is more important to the education of kids as encouraging a love of reading. Great having coffee with you.
