Note: When this was posted, I had a photo as my header that told my news. Since then I have changed headers but I am including the photo here. So I guess this should be “Look Down”.
Yup.
My daughter gave this to me to let me know her news and mine. End of February…beginning of March.
I’ve actually known for about 5 weeks but she hadn’t told her dad yet so I couldn’t blog about it.
Congratulations! Happy times are afoot . . .

Thank you, Truddle. I’m getting excited, even though I know better than to let myself get excited so many months ahead of time.

Congratulations! Are you ready to be called “grandma”?

I’ve been thinking about that. All the grandkids on my side of the family call their grandmas “Nana” followed by their first name so I guess I wouldn’t mind being called Nana Corina. Grandma doesn’t sound right and I refuse to be called Granny!

CONGRATULATIONS! Will this be your first?
I had some sophisticated name planned for myself before my first grandchild arrived. But months down the road Haley tried to say Grandma and it came out Ahmaw. The first time I heard my son correct her, I stopped him. “She has named me,” I said. From then on I was Ahmaw. This is to warn you that whatever comes out of your first grand’s mouth just may melt you and you will be forever anointed.

Yes, first one for me. And the first great grandchild on my ex-husband’s side of the family.
I know about naming. You’re right. Whatever that child names me will probably be what I will be known by. Good thing most babies can’t say “granny” when they’re first born!

Thank you, Tamara! She took an over the counter test yesterday and it looks like we’re shopping for PINK! It was fun to go out and get the first pink outfits!

Wow… you mean it is possible to find out sex from an over the counter test now??? Amazing!

Yes, amazing. And when I went with her to her very first pre-natal exam at 8 weeks, they did an ultrasound and we heard the heart beat which was amazing to me because the last time I had a baby, we didn’t hear the heart beat until about 15 weeks and there was no ultrasound til the 5th month!

That’s what I was going to ask. Is it possible to buy an over the counter test to determine sex?
LikeLike
Yes. There is an over the counter test (Intell-
Gender, $25 at Walgreens). It’s like an at home pregnancy test i.e., you pee on it. It uses the hormones in the urine to determine the sex of the baby. It is supposed to be accurate from, I think, 10 weeks. It is supposed to be around 82 to 86 per cent accurate. And apparently, if you get a girl reading, it is more accurate than a boy reading because the default is boy. Tina took it yesterday. And if it’s correct, it’s a girl, which is what I felt all along!
She’ll have an ultrasound in about another 3 weeks or so. That should be able to confirm the results or tell us the test was screwed up!
